Time is always short in teaching, but repetition is a crucial element to learning for most students. My average number of repetitions is 3 as struggling students often need to hear something 3 times in a row to be able to repeat it correctly. If they can't repeat it correctly, you can't expect them to be able to write it, or even remember it.

A gesture that can be used in all activities to enable students to use full sentences and questions, construct grammatically correct sentences, self correct incorrectly worded sentences, extend their sentence length and prompt students when they have used incomplete sentences.

A hand gesture that assists with sounding out words. Helps to distinguish sounds from letters, syllables and words.

A brilliant strategy to encourage all students in the class to participate. Can easily be used with children as young as Foundation year. Helps with participation, engagement and active learning. Discourages inattentivity, 'unfairness' and student complaints/arguments about being involved or missing out.

A cooperative leaning strategy to encourage class participation, share ideas, engagement, oral language and listening skills.
